Sunday April 26 from 12 pm to 3 pm (or sell out)

Merrior meets terroir.

The Oyster Girl NC and Waterman’s Choice are coming to the farm with oysters from Topsail Sound, and we are pairing them with a special wine flight meant just for fresh oysters.

The growers themselves will be on site shucking. You get to meet them, nerd out about farming and salinity and flavor, and eat oysters while the people who raised them tell you exactly where they came from.

Waterman’s Choice, founded by Griffin Canady, is a seed to shuck shellfish operation growing premium oysters in Topsail and Stump Sound.

Marsh Hippie oysters are grown by Morgan Klein. These taste like the ocean is supposed to taste, with 32 to 40 ppt salinity.

Come hungry, drink the wine, eat the oysters, meet the growers, and do not miss this.

Pre-order your oysters for a guaranteed good time. Walk ins welcome but you risk them running out.

At the Winery, 105 Persimmon Hill Lane, Cedar Grove, NC 27231

More about Morgan Klein: I am a proud graduate of Cape Fear Community College’s Marine Technology Program and USCG Master 25 GT Captain.  My passion lies in supporting local watermen and promoting local seafood. The oysters I cultivate (Marsh Hippies) are grown in the clean, salty waters of Topsail Sound (32ppt-40ppt salinity). These oysters offer a balanced, oceanic and savory flavor. It’s a true labor of love from tide to table.

More about Griffin Canady: Waterman's Choice is a seed-to-shuck shellfish aquaculture operation serving the regional seafood markets of North Carolina with premium products cultivated in Topsail and Stump Sound.

Catch‑and‑Sip: Carnivorous Plants at Botanist & Barrel in Cedar Grove [Sat. May 23rd]
$5.00

Saturday, May 23rd 1-3pm

Explore the world of carnivorous plants, from North American bogs to tropical rainforests, during this Drink and Think afternoon at Botanist and Barrel.

We will have our regular cider and wine menu plus kid friendly non alcoholic options, including our NA ciders, so the whole family can join in.

Author and nurseryman Kenny Coogan runs the largest carnivorous plant nursery in Winston Salem, shipping bug eating plants to growers all over the country. He will walk us through Venus flytraps, sundews, butterworts, tropical pitcher plants, and more, with plenty of time for questions.

After the talk, you will be able to shop a wide range of carnivorous plants to take home, with Kenny on hand to help you pick the right one and keep it happy.

Admission is 5 dollars and benefits the nonprofit International Carnivorous Plant Society. Come drink cider or NA sips, learn something wild, and leave with a plant that bites back.
